An atmospheric river dumped rain and kicked up winds across the greater San Francisco Bay Area on Thursday, flooding roadways, knocking over trees and causing rivers to swell. While storm conditions were diminishing in the nine-county Bay Area on Friday morning, the system is expected to hammer the Santa Cruz Mountains and Big Sur Coast through Friday afternoon, the National Weather Service said. A second atmospheric river is forecast to sweep Northern California and impact the Bay Area on Tuesday, but forecasters said it's too early to nail down the details.
