LOS ANGELES — California continues to face a relentless stream of storms, as residents are being forced to evacuate areas with a track record of deadly flooding and mudslides. Areas affected by wildfires last year are much more susceptible to mudslides than other parts of the state. Forecasters warned that 60-mph wind gusts could reach southwestern California at the storm's peak, with other areas receiving rainfall of a half-inch per hour.State officials confirmed the new death toll rise from 12 to 14 on Monday, after falling trees took the lives of two people.
